Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP)

Platelet Rich Fibrin (PRF) and Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP), are components of your own blood that aid in healing. When you have surgery, inflammation occurs. This inflammation recruits specific cells to the site of injury that promote healing. This process takes some time.

At Providence Oral Surgery, we have the technology to draw blood samples, spin them down in a centrifuge, and 'extract' the growth factors in a concentrate that we use to enhance the healing potential of your surgery site. Studies have shown that PRF not only enhances the healing of bone grafts and soft tissue injuries, but also decreases pain and swelling from tooth extractions. It's simple, quick, and generally pain-free. We also use a formula similar to PRF, called Platelet Rich Plasma, or "PRP," in our hair restoration therapy. The concept is the same: the growth factors stimulate hair follicles to enhance hair growth and hair thickness.

Our oral surgeon, Dr. Parelli, will discuss any questions you may have on the day of your consultation at our Waxhaw office.
