Tooth Extraction

Tooth Extraction

in Waxhaw and Weddington

Needing teeth removed can be very stressful. At Providence Oral Surgery in Waxhaw, it doesn't have to be. We have many solutions to make tooth removal as stress and pain-free as possible.

There are several reasons why a tooth may need to be removed, such as: cavities, periodontal disease, tooth fracture, improper position, preparation for dentures, to name a few. We usually prefer to have a consultation appointment before we schedule a procedure so that we have the opportunity to learn about your health, examine your teeth, take X-rays, and explain the options for tooth removal and tooth replacement. Occasionally, however, a patient may present to our office with swelling or with pain, in which case we do our best to treat the patient the same day. Pain is a common driver for people desiring emergency help with "getting a tooth pulled." For this reason we seek to accommodate emergency tooth extraction whenever possible within our schedule. If you are experiencing pain and need emergency help, please call our office today.

Teeth can be removed in our Waxhaw office with the patient either awake or asleep. During your consultation appointment, our oral surgeon will discuss each option and make a recommendation on which is best for you. Some options include, I.V. sedation, oral sedation with tablets, or local anesthesia.

Depending on how many teeth need to be extracted, you should expect to not return to work or school on the day of surgery, and possibly days after. You may experience some swelling and discomfort in the days after the procedure, but you will be given medications to keep you comfortable while you heal. You should have soft foods at home that will be easy to eat and gentle on the extraction sites. Some of the recommended foods include: ice cream, mashed potatoes, mac & cheese, soup, pasta, soft veggies, etc.

We will provide you with further instructions during the consultation appointment and on the day of the procedure. After surgery, someone will be available to answer your questions 24/7.

What does it cost to have teeth removed?
